Never Not Loved

The Father has never not loved us!  He has always  seen us in Jesus.  Sin did not put Him off from us—sin put us off from Him.  Eph 4:18  Having the understanding darkened, being alienated from the life of God through the ignorance that is in them, because of the blindness of their heart:Col. 1:21  And you, that were sometime alienated and enemies in [your] mind by wicked works, yet now hath he reconciled.

We could and would never have reconciled ourselves to God because the skewed image of Him that Adam gave to us caused us to be revulsed and afraid of Him.  After Adam sinned he hid himself because he was afraid.  But what was there to be afraid of?  Had God changed toward Adam?  Not in the least!  But Adam had changed toward God and Adam’s attitude was handed down to us in our old sin nature.  Adam believed a lie and so much of mankind still believes that lie.  The truth is that God has never changed and He certainly has never changed towards mankind.  Mankind changed toward God.

But what Adam gave to us in the garden (the spirit of fear), Jesus Christ took upon himself (the fear was crucified) and gave us a new spirit of love.  This is the truth—God is Love—always has been and always will be!  So what did love cause Him to do?  Or better, what God is, God does!  God is love so He loves!  God’s love toward a hostile and degenerate world is expressed through GRACE!  That grace is a person—Jesus Christ!!!

Love would dictate that whatever is offending the object of love would need to be removed.  Sin was offending the object (mankind) of God’s love so He removed sin!    So God sent Jesus to make war with sin—Jesus won!  To the victor goes the spoils (mankind).  The Victor removed every vestige of the offending element and remade the object (mankind) of God’s love.  He remade us so that we could love God, others, and ourselves.
God left it up to Adam to make a choice for all mankind and as a result, he chose wrongly.  When Adam chose, he chose for us; however, everyone of us would have made that same choice.  What Adam chose for us—alienation from God—Jesus chose for us—reconciliation to God.  We have been reconciled, Paul tells us, now be reconciled to the Father!  The Hound of Heaven is in pursuit of all those who refuse to accept the reconciliation but be reconciled we all will.  It’s not a matter of if but a matter of when.  Love wins!  God is not willing that any should perish!  If God is not willing, then who will perish?  Can anyone thwart God?  Perish the thought!  Who can resist Him? No one!  His love is irresistible to the remade man!

Any hostilities or lack of trust we had towards God did not reduce his love for us; even when we were enemies towards Him in our minds, He revealed His true attitude towards us when He gave His Son. God’s giving is always a healing balm, because the nature of His giving is a giving of what is perfect into what has no capacity to reciprocate.

When God gave us His Son it was the Highest possible expression of Love because it revealed God’s esteem of our VALUE. It was not just some random value God saw in us, but He saw EQUAL value in us when he exchanged the life of his Son for ours.

Jesus is God’s definitive statement about your own origins, identity, value and destiny.

The Bible says that when we were enemies, God reconciled us through the death of His Son. The word reconciled is “katalasso”, meaning an EXCHANGE OF EQUAL VALUE. It was a common word used in the market place of that time depicting things exchanged of equal value. This means God saw our value the VERY SAME as Christs in the act of giving His Son!

Beloved, God took all the guess work out of questions like, “Who am I?”, “Why am I here?, “What is my significance?”, when He sent His Son. Christ is the only accurate mirror into which we can look, by the Spirit, into the face of our own identity and value.

There is no longer any sort of reliable definition of ourselves outside of God’s verdict and declaration in Christ. God sent His Son as THE message, not only of what the Father is like, but as an eternal declaration of who WE are. Christ is God’s only definition of mankinds identity.

The Law was a stranger speaking to us of our false identity outside of God, but Christ was God speaking to us of our true, new creation reality. The Law was satans message to us as to a false identity; Jesus revealed Himself as how the Father actually sees us in spirit and truth.

Now that the act of reconciliation is complete, and heaven has definitively and eternally commented on our actual value in God’s economy, let is throw off all lesser definitions, conformity and descriptions of ourselves. Embrace your Son-Value, your God-Esteem, your Spirit-Stature.

You have been appraised at equal value with the Son in the bosom of the Trinity. Christ’s life saves all of us from the gutter-most to the uttermost.

He must increase but I must decrease—
That’s what was said that day.
For John beheld the Lamb of God,
Who would take the world’s sin away!

Salvation’s not what I believe,
Salvation was God’s plan.
Salvation is not what I do,
Salvation is a man—Jesus!

He alone should be my joy,
For this man has set me free.
It’s not what I do for God,
It’s what God has done for me.

But surely there’s something I can do,
To help God’s plan succeed
This man Jesus can’t do it all,
Surely something from me, He’ll need.

Surely My faith, My belief, My Permission is required,
Before God’s plan can take effect.
Or can “the Finished Work of the Cross”
Be stopped, simply through my neglect?

But I fell when Adam fell,
Ungodly and sinner I became.
My salvation came through a virgin birth,
Jesus was his saving name.

He came not because I asked him to,
Nor because I sought him out.
It was because, “God who is Love”,
Saw my need and sought me out.

Two thousand years before I appeared
He died for my sins and grief,
He came to seek and save the lost,
His mercy and grace brought relief.

The whole world had fallen,
And creation was undone.
His plan was to create it all anew,
And He did it in His son.

For we are saved—saved by grace through faith,
And that faith is not our own,
It is the faithfulness of Jesus himself,
He’s now seated with God on His throne.

Accepted in the beloved,
For he paid the total bill.
Nothing can separate us from the love of Christ,
And “nothing” ever will.

Grace, Grace, Marvelous Grace,
So wonderful to watch it unfold.
The glorious, precious Love of God,
The greatest Love story ever told.

The good news of the gospel,
Is that our savior and our friend,
Dwells within ALL mankind,
And His Love will NEVER END.
